I am a spinner, knitter and dyer, specialising in unique wearable scarves and jackets. I am committed to using only natural dyes in my work. I am inspired by the movement of water and trees, and the many beautiful stitches that I can introduce into my work.

My work begins from a love of light and colour that I have had all my life. I work from drawings of natural forms which are inspired by my own photographs. Sometimes I spin fibres and then dye them, sometimes the dyeing comes first. All the time I continue to design, even while I am knitting. Finishing the work gives a chance to use some favourite techniques.

From this New Year, I am planning to work entirely in natural dyes either gathered locally or purchased in a dried form. The different and subtle colours are very inspiring and various fibres take dyes differently.

I work mainly with wool (Blue Faced Leicester) and silk but I have also been experimenting with bamboo and Tencel (wood pulp) All these factors feed into the design of my work and help to make the garments truly unique
